Folli-Activ is an oral formula: 90 capsules in a bottle, swallowed, not rubbed on the scalp. That route matches a specific subset of the papers on this site and mismatches another subset. Naming the route is part of reading the evidence cleanly. The retail capsule was not the test article in any of those papers.
Studies that dosed by mouth
Rossi gave men Serenoa repens 320 milligrams every day by mouth for 24 months and compared global photographs with finasteride 1 milligram a day. Increased hair growth was scored in 38 percent of the Serenoa group and 68 percent of the finasteride group, with the Serenoa change mainly at the vertex. The route was oral. The design was open-label. Both facts travel with the 38 percent figure.
Cho gave men 400 milligrams a day of Octa Sabal Plus, identified in the paper as pumpkin seed oil, in capsules for 24 weeks, against placebo capsules. Mean hair count rose 40 percent versus 10 percent. Hair thickness did not change. The route was oral capsules, taken as two 100-milligram capsules before breakfast and two before dinner. The product name stays Octa Sabal Plus.
Hong gave oral oils for 12 months: pumpkin seed oil 320 milligrams, saw palmetto oil 320 milligrams, or both, against a starch placebo. Urinary symptom scores fell inside each oil group by three months. Between-group differences were not significant. The route was oral. The endpoint was the prostate symptom score, flow, PSA, and prostate volume, not hair.
Shoba gave oral curcumin, 2 grams, with or without 20 milligrams of oral piperine. In volunteers, curcumin alone produced undetectable or very low serum levels, and the piperine combination raised bioavailability by 2000 percent. In rats the oral doses were 2 grams per kilogram and 20 milligrams per kilogram, and bioavailability rose 154 percent. Absorption is an oral problem. An oral formula is the setting in which that problem was measured.
Chiu gave an oral enriched Ganoderma lucidum capsule, 225 milligrams a day, for six months in a crossover of 42 healthy adults. TEAC, thiols, glutathione, TBARS, 8-hydroxy-deoxyguanosine, and liver enzymes moved, with P less than 0.05. The route was a capsule after a meal. The endpoint was blood and ultrasound, not a hair count.
Zempleni's biotin review is about a vitamin taken in the diet and in supplements. The adequate intake cited for adults is 30 micrograms a day. Deficiency, from diet or from failure of biotin handling, includes hair loss. Biotin is an oral nutrient in that literature. Trüeb measured serum biotin in women complaining of hair loss and found deficiency in 38 percent of that clinic series. Serum level is what an oral vitamin changes when intake or handling is the issue. It is not what a shampoo changes.
Studies that were topical, kept topical
Kwon's elongation data used EGCG in the medium of cultured human follicles: 123.0 percent and 121.6 percent of vehicle at 0.1 and 1 micromolar, and 181.2 percent at 5 micromolar. The four-day arm applied 10 percent EGCG in ethanol to the occipital scalp of three volunteers and then measured Bcl-2 in excised dermal papillae. That arm is topical. It is a protein blot after four days, not an oral hair-count trial. Folli-Activ's EGCG is oral. The culture result remains a culture result. The ethanol result remains a topical result. Neither is silently converted into a claim about swallowing the retail bottle.
Vázquez tested aloe gel extracts on rat paw edema and neutrophil migration, and measured prostaglandin E2. Hekmatpou's 23 controlled trials used aloe gel, cream, or derivatives on wounds, burns, psoriasis, and related skin conditions. Duplan tested synthetic 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid, the royal jelly fatty acid, as a topical cream and balm, and recorded a hydration rise of 28.8 percent at 7 days and 60.4 percent at 21 days in UV-dried skin. Those are skin-surface and tissue-bath experiments. They explain why aloe and royal jelly are discussed for scalp skin. They do not show that an oral capsule was the cream.
What the bottle asks of a shopper
An oral course asks for a daily swallow of capsules, consistent with the oral papers above, over a span long enough to resemble the studies that ran for months. Cho's hair-count separation was absent on self-scores at 12 weeks and present at 24 weeks. Rossi's photographs were read at 24 months. Chiu's antioxidant panel was a six-month crossover. Short, topical experiments answer different questions on different clocks. Folli-Activ does not publish a serving count on this page beyond the bottle size of 90 capsules, because a capsules-per-day instruction is not one of the product facts used here. The pack math is the commercial fact: 1 bottle at RM169, 3 bottles at RM447, and 6 bottles at RM699 with free shipping.
Packs and card checkout
The brand is MY NPM FOLLI-ACTIV. Packs are on this site at those three prices. Checkout is by card. The oral route is the route of the hair-photograph study, the hair-count study, the urinary oil study, the curcumin blood-level study, and the reishi antioxidant crossover. Topical papers stay labelled topical. That split is the standard this page uses, and it is the standard a shopper can use when comparing a capsule with a lotion.
